Decadent Desserts in the Varoma

Ma ma ma my VAROMA!   So I used to be scared of my Varoma!  I'm not actually sure why!  How about you?  Are you using it to it's fullest potential?  There are so many uses for your Thermomix Varoma, but today I am going to focus on decadent desserts.  Why desserts?  Well when I want a cake or pudding - I want it rich, moist and more-ish.  And if it can be made healthy-ish to boot?  Well I am sold!

No matter how much I eat, there is always room for dessert. dessert doesn’t go to the stomach. Dessert goes to the heart.

So first steps first.  Step 1...  Check out your fabulous BASIC COOKBOOK (or EVERYDAY COOKBOOK) - you know the one that came with your Thermomix - and check out some of the delectable steamed desserts inside such as the lemon syrup puddings or the Sticky Date Puddings.  Step 2...  Head on down to your local grocery store or department store and pick up some small/medium sized silicon patty pans.  They fit perfectly inside your Varoma, are washable and re-useable.  Step 3....  Whip up a cake batter, fill your Thermomix bowl with water (according to the instructions), set your varoma on top and GET STEAMING!

I'm sharing some of my favourite recipes with you below:

One of the first Varoma Desserts I ever made - these are quick basic desserts, the kind you whip up out of your everyday pantry ingredients.  Turn the Varoma on while you eat dinner and VOILA, dessert is ready!

Ginger Steamed Puddings with Star Anise and Cinnamon Syrup

Ginger Steamed Puddings with Star Anise and Cinnamon Syrup

This recipe can be found in the official Thermomix cookbook "Everyday Cooking for Thermomix Families".  Soft fluffy cupcakes that are just made with the star anise syrup.  What a flavour combination!  For those with allergy concerns these cupcakes are easily made gluten free with a substitute flour (I use the White Wings GF brand)

Sticky Date Puddings

Sticky Date Puddings

Another recipe found lovingly tucked away in the book that came with your Thermomix.  This deliciousness can be either baked in the oven or alternatively steamed in the Varoma.  I prefer mine steamed.  The rich caramel sauce and the date pudding utterly melt in your mouth.  Very easily made allergy friendly.  I generally adapt these to be gluten free (using the above mentioned flour) and make them dairy free also by subbing the butter for nuttelex and the cream for coconut cream. Serve without ice-cream for dairy free or add your favourite coconut ice cream.

And last, but definitely not least.... Perth's very own Tenina Holder's (of Cooking with Tenina fame) Raspberry Dream Cheesecake.  This is the creme de la creme of desserts.  A taste sensation in your mouth.  A dessert to sell Thermomixes.  Creamy, rich, decadent white chocolate base topped with dark choc ganache.  You should definitely make it.....but don't say I didn't warn you...you should definitely make and take to share with others (before you eat it all in one sitting!   mwwaahh haha)

Enjoy them all, in delightful dessert heaven, for the way to a woman's heart is surely through dessert <3
